“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3

Broken Places, Shared Stories
We live in a world full of noise—headlines that shake us, losses that cut deep, and struggles that feel too heavy to carry. But one of the gifts God has given us is the ability to turn our broken places into shared stories.
That’s why I write. That’s why this blog exists. That’s why The Writer’s Lantern Podcast is launching. Because when we share our stories, we find out we’re not alone.
Fiction That Breathes Truth
When I wrote Lessons in Silence, it was more than just a thriller—it was my way of holding up a mirror to the realities of abuse and resilience. Blood of the Hollow Crown carried epic battles and romance, yes, but underneath it beat the heart of endurance, prophecy, and hope when the odds felt impossible.
Stories let us say the hard things in ways our lips sometimes can’t. They let us process grief, ask the unspoken questions, and shine light on the shadows.
Maybe your story looks different. Maybe it’s in journaling, painting, music, or simply sharing your testimony over coffee with a friend. But every time you speak light into the dark, you’re helping someone else see their way forward.
A Call to Reflection
If you’re reading this, I want to invite you into a simple challenge this week:
- Write one page. Don’t overthink it. Don’t edit. Just write about a moment that hurt and what you learned in the aftermath.
- Pray over it. Ask God to show you where His hand was present, even if you didn’t see it at the time.
- Consider sharing. You don’t have to post it online—but maybe tell a family member, a friend, or even write a letter to yourself.
Healing begins when honesty and faith meet.
Why This Matters Now
We’re living in a time of deep fractures—political, cultural, generational. And yet, nothing bridges divides like stories. Stories soften hearts. Stories build compassion. Stories invite understanding.
Most of all, stories remind us of the Author who is writing something greater than the chapter we’re in.
The Lantern Stays Lit
That’s what The Writer’s Lantern is about. A steady flame in uncertain times. A reminder that hope isn’t gone. A place to gather and remember that our brokenness is not the end—it can be the beginning of something redemptive.
And beginning September 27, you’ll hear these conversations come alive through The Writer’s Lantern Podcast. Each week, I’ll share reflections, real-life stories, and faith-filled discussions about how stories heal, inspire, and draw us back to Christ.
The podcast will be another seat at the table—another lantern lit in the dark. I’d love for you to join me there.
Pull up a chair. Share your story. Let’s heal together.
